The First Rule of Doing Things Right

Have you ever felt that when you look at your finished drawing, you feel like it's a total failure? Something missing? This is what I do to set my art just the way I want it.

Usually I only realize something is wrong is when I take a picture with my phone and PRESTO! it's total trash. This kept going for a while until I reached a conclusion that I wasn't focused or rushed (which is something you should never EVER do). Really, sometimes I feel like I have 100 ideas in my head which cause the paper either to be blank or really trashy (cause I keep changing my mind).  To make myself focus on the task at hand. I often wear headphones or whatever as long as I can listen to music.

I find that music helps me relax, it clears my mind so I can pretty much go at a nice pace. The thing is with music is that it can affect our mood. The saying goes,"Music sings which cannot be said." (Close enough). So for a calm and peacefull scenery as the picture above, I listen to a few mellow songs. For art that express anger such as people fighting, etc. I listen to my favorite list of Nightcore.

I also find that eating snack is a good thing to do. Now now, you might argue with me and say that it might end up messing the drawing, but hey. Put your food on the shelve, the chair next to you, or at the floor near you anywhere that's close but not risky. Also, I said snack not pizza or burgers.

Other things you MUST try is getting up from the chair and walk around a bit. Remember to stretch once in a while. I have back problems so I can't sit on my ass all the time or I can't bend the day after. This metode is also usefull to get some ideas. Looking at everyday objects and fantasize what they would look as a dress, with legs and whatever you can do in that head of yours.

You just gotta follow this few steps (These are mine though, it depends on what you wanna do):

1. When you start preparing to draw, Try imagining what else you can come up with. It might slow the process but it'll do some good!

2. When it's all set, don't forget your musics, snacks and your teddy if it calms you down. Finalize your idea.

3. Sketch

4. When your stuck or finished sketching, analyze it and get up. Move a bit and then return to analyze it again. Your opinion my change from the first time you saw it.

5. Repeat step 4 around 1-2 times, no need to take so many rounds, it's still a sketch.

6. Draw,Paint,Sculpt or whatever you're planning to do.

7. Take a break after 15-20 minutes, take a bit of your snack or change the music.

8. A break every once in a while is needed. For me it's to lay down the stress.

9. Finish your drawing and give yourself two thumbs up for a great job!

Well that's all, thanks for reading!
Hope it'll be usefull!
